The Yukon Schutzhund Association has had another successful trial season.

This was the first year the YSA hosted two Schutzhund trials and for some of our trial helpers it was their first trial experience.  The judges provided clear guidance and support and the helpers did an excellent job.  Great work Susanne, Terry and Randy!  Thank you for all your support and dedication to all the club dogs and handlers.

Many thanks to our judges:  SV Judge Doug Deacon and SV Judge Rudy Meitzner and trial secretary Cindy Cooke.

Here are some pictures of our trial helpers:

Our first trial of the year was in June with Doug Deacon and Rudy Meitzner judged our August trial, which will be the last trial of the year for most of the club members.

Congratulations to all our members for demonstrating good sportsmanship- especially when things didn’t go as well as planned.  The following members received Schutzhund titles this summer:

  • Diane and Pyrite (BH)

  • Susan and Ryza (TR2)

  • Kirstie and Bodi (TR1)

  • Terry C. and CJ (SchH1)

  • Randy and Axle (SchH1)

  • Susanne and Odin (SchH2)

  • Terri and Andante (SchH2)

  • Randy and Bosz (SchH2)

The Trials were followed by a seminar's with both Doug Deacon and Rudy Meitzner.  The morning session was a lot of theory and we discussed in great detail the Schutzhund tracking dog. After a short break we moved outside and went through both obedience and protection elements.

The YSA would also like to welcome new members:

Darren, Vicky, Diane, Dan and Susan.  Susan was one of the foundation members of the YSA, it is great to have her back in the club.

Below is handler Susan with her Doberman "Yoki"....great sport prospect.

Darren and Vicky are new to the sport however you would never know this when you watch Darren doing helper work.  He is a quick learner.

Diane joined the club late last year, she is also new to the sport but has many years of experience training her dogs in rally and agility.
