Schutzhund Training Seminar In Washington State 2006

This summer we had the opportunity to travel to Washington State to train dogs with very good handlers & trainer's. First off we would like to thank Scott & Heather Schnider for having us at their home. Friday we had the pleasure of meeting Detlef Berensman, trainer, handler & breeder from Berlin Germany. We spent allot of time just talking about training & the natural drives these working line German Shepherds have it was a real eye opener. Saturday & Sunday morning Scott took us tracking with Lex , Quanta & Caya, it was great watching these Shepherds in action. Very intense & focused!!!

Saturday & Sunday after tracking Scott introduced us to Ed Gutekanst who was to be our host at his place for the Shutzhund Seminar with Detlef Berensmann. Special thanks to Ed for having us at his home & the opportunity to train with Detlef & watch all the handlers & great dogs in action.

In the afternoons we strapped on the gear as Detlef put us threw our paces teaching us proper helper techniques with some very intense dogs. We came back home with a little more confidence & understanding with regards to the team work with the handler & his dog & the importance of good helper work!

I wish we  had more time their to train with Detlef, it was a lot to take in & absorb in a short period of time but well worth the trip. I would highly recommend to anyone traveling to  Germany to look up Detlef for some great handler & dog training. Almost forgot, don't litter in Washington or else...................
